Buying from Norway

We are a marine safety and electrical specialist on the Norwegian west coast. Outside the EU and the UK you can order directly in our webshop – as a private buyer or a business – with DHL Express freight priced at checkout. Long-distance sailors, Norwegians abroad and anyone who wants Norwegian cold-water gear are welcome. Within the EU and the UK we sell to business customers only, on request by email. This page says exactly how that works, including the parts most shops leave out.

What is worth buying from us

Not a catalogue. A European chandler buys from the same distributors we do, closer to you and with cheaper freight. If price is the question, buy locally. What travels well from Norway is the gear that is made here and used here, in cold water, by people who depend on it.

Marine DC systems, engineered

The other thing we do is not shipped in a box. Victron installations where somebody has actually designed the sensor layout: tank, temperature, bilge, shore power and battery monitoring brought together on a Cerbo GX and made to mean something, with DC protection that is documented for breaking capacity and selectivity, not guessed. Most suppliers sell the boxes. We would rather engineer what goes into them, and then send you the bill of materials.

Our free Node-RED package for Venus OS, node-red-contrib-sob-guard, is a fair sample of how we think.

Outside the EU and the UK: order online

Put the items in the cart and choose your country at checkout. You see the DHL Express price before you pay. Norwegian VAT is not charged; you are the importer and pay any import VAT, duty and DHL clearance fee on delivery (DAP). Payment is by card in Norwegian kroner. Private buyers have a 14-day right of withdrawal under Norwegian law; return freight is at your cost. On Svalbard? Choose Norway and your 917x postcode – we ship with Bring, without VAT.

Business orders to the EU and the UK

  1. You email us. The boat, the problem, and where it is. on.drobmotehrekkis@tsop
  2. We quote you. Itemised, with HS codes, country of origin and weights – the data your customs authority will ask for.
  3. We ship DAP. Delivered At Place, Incoterms 2020. You are the importer of record and pay local VAT and any duty on delivery. We handle the export declaration from Norway; Norwegian VAT is not charged.
  4. Minimum order NOK 3 000 ex. VAT for business orders to the EU and the UK. Below that, freight and the EU’s flat customs fee eat the order. Email anyway; sometimes it can ride with something else going the same way.

Before you order: three things to know

Warranty comes back to us, not to your local dealer

Victron handles warranty through the dealer who sold the unit, and Icom through national distributors with territory-limited warranty. Buy an Icom radio from us and it fails in Germany, a German Icom dealer cannot help you: it comes back to us, and we send it on. Return freight to Norway is at your cost. Better to know that now.

Dangerous goods and beacons do not leave Norway

We do not ship pyrotechnics, flares, line-throwers, liferafts or loose lithium cells abroad. We also do not export EPIRBs or PLBs: a beacon is coded and registered for the vessel’s flag state, and a Norwegian-coded unit on a foreign-flagged boat would not do its job. Buy those from a dealer in your flag state.

Your rules, not ours

The gear is documented against Norwegian and European standards (SOLAS, ISO 12402, ISO 15027, EN ISO 9650). National approval, registration and frequency rules can still differ. Check what your flag state and your insurer require before you order; we will tell you what we know.

Where we ship

Worldwide outside the EU, the UK and sanctioned destinations, with DHL Express – road service within Europe where it is available, air service elsewhere – and Svalbard with Bring. Webshop orders show the freight price at checkout; business quotes include it. We do not promise delivery dates we cannot control.

Visiting Norway by boat? If something has failed while you are in Norwegian waters, that is a different page: Help for visiting boaters.

Tell us what you need

Email is how we work. You get a considered answer rather than a rushed one, and everything stays documented.
